After five years with things at the restaurant finally going relatively smoothly (as smoothly as things can go at a restaurant) we announced the news of AKT Nourish closing the Haymarket location. It was a difficult announcement; much more a difficult decision. The news has been met with an outpouring of support. So many conversations that I will long cherish.
I am very blessed to have had the opportunity to open the restaurant, gain friendship and go forward with such a rich experience. A great deal of thanksgiving goes to our staff. Their support has been so steady and capable, I could almost take them for granted. But not. So much of our customer loyalty as well as my sanity bears credit to Lizee, Erendira, Tara, Cathy, Emily, Kaitlyn, Marcela, Preston and Maris.
The question of the hour is, "What's Next?"
We will return to our roots of Private and Personal Chef service as well as catering; hopefully developing a market for local home delivery and drop points throughout our immediate area until the farm markets reopen next season.
The unvoiced question is, "Why?"
Our lease simply and amicably concluded while chosen properties delayed. Try as we did, we were not able to negotiate a favorable extension on our current lease. Fortunately, we owe nothing but the debt of love and appreciation and are completely free to pursue the wonderful future God has planned for us.
